Range of ADA Issues With Which We Have Provided Guidance

I thought it would be helpful to share some information about the range of issues we have addressed for clients.

Website Accessibility: We have reviewed websites of small and large businesses, addressing their compliance with the ADA and WCAG. We have provided manual testing and automated testing, as well as expert testimony, in collaboration with Converge Accessibility, a business headed by a former Justice Department attorney with expertise in the ADA and WCAG and a former expert in WCAG with experience at Microsoft. (www.ConvergeAccessibility.com). Our clients have included multinational corporations as well.

State and Local Governments: We have assisted state and local governments in a variety of ways:

  • Development of a Self-Evaluation Plan and Development of a Transition Plan. We have worked with small government entities (e.g., the Florida Keys) and large entities (e.g., Los Angeles County and King County Washington (Seattle), as well as others.
  • Assistance with litigation. We have provided consulting services and litigation assistance to state and local governments nationwide, including cases involving homeless programs, jails, law enforcement, transportation services for people with disabilities, housing, and a variety of other issues.
  • I served as an expert witness in litigation against Rikers Island in New York.
  • I served as an expert witness in a case against the Sheriff of Okeechobee, FL, on behalf of the Sheriff.

Federal Government: I was appointed by HUD as the Claims Administrator in a matter involving Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act at a housing project funded by HUD. In that capacity, I was responsible for evaluating claims under a Voluntary Compliance Agreement entered into by HUD and a landlord.

Private Businesses:

I have served as a consultant to Airlines For America, Tribeca Festival, and other organizations.

Celebrity Cruise Lines: I served as an expert witness on behalf of Celebrity Cruise Lines concerning the requirements of the ADA as they related to cruise ships.

Hotels: In collaboration with an architect, we provide site visits and comprehensive evaluation of a property’s compliance with the ADA Standards. We provide a comprehensive, detailed, confidential report and guidance about how to come into compliance with the ADA’s requirements. When necessary, we can also provide expert testimony in federal court. We also assist hotels when they are sued for failing to offer sufficient information on their websites about the accessible features of their property.

These are a few of the examples of the wide range of clients we have assisted, nationwide. Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you.
